raise

Raises a question/issue for the user without imposing the same answer-resolution requirement on the current plan as findout.

<raise type="wh_question" predicate="destination"/>

Attributes and children

Attribute Meaning
type Question type; defaults to wh_question. Supported forms are goal, wh_question, alt_question, yn_question, and kpq.
predicate Predicate for a predicate-backed WH or yes/no question.

alt_question accepts repeated alt children. A KPQ contains one embedded_question. Other question forms can use proposition, perform, or resolve content as appropriate. The item can appear in a plan, postplan, or conditional branch. Unlike findout, it does not require an answer to continue; unlike bind, it explicitly asks the question. It is useful for optional parameters. allow_answer_from_pcom and alts_predicate are findout options, not raise attributes.

Examples

Ask which goal is relevant:

<raise type="goal"/>

Ask WH and yes/no questions:

<raise type="wh_question" predicate="colour"/>
<raise type="yn_question" predicate="side_order_fries"/>

Offer two questions as alternatives:

<raise type="alt_question">
  <alt><resolve type="wh_question" predicate="monthly_payment"/></alt>
  <alt><resolve type="wh_question" predicate="interest_rate"/></alt>
</raise>

Ask whether the user knows the answer to an embedded question:

<raise type="kpq">
  <embedded_question type="wh_question" predicate="destination"/>
</raise>
